An ooc note and headcanon on Bane

Bane loves Talia much more than she loves him. I’m not denying she cares for him, but it’s more like the fondness someone has for a lifelong pet and guard dog (and he is very much her guard dog) but that doesn’t mean she wouldn’t shank him if he got in the way of her plans.
Whereas he still sees her as this beautiful fierce little girl who needs his protection. I was trying to sort out WHY this was and I realized it:
Bane was one of Talia’s mother’s guards, hence why he’d be so ready to (at least try) to protect her, and be so protective of Talia. Because that was something that puzzled me, why this so-called mercenary would be so fiercely protective of a small girl (regardless of the fact that a prison is no place for a child)
What I surmised was that like Talia’s mother, he took the fall for someone else.
The person he took the fall for WAS Talia’s mother. Her dalliance with Ra’s that produced Talia was not the first one she had. The first one was with another mercenary/missionary/ne’er do well (she had a type, what can I say?)
And so the Princess had her fling, daddy found out, and was going to throw HER in in the pit for, sullying the bloodline or some such (since they couldn’t find the missionary/mercenary/ne’er do well) and Bane, as her loyal royal guard basically said: “Not her fault, I’m the one that didn’t keep a better eye on her/keep her away from him/them away from her.” etc.
